Uthana Monthly Magazine
This magazine was founded in the year 1965. It served as a vehicle for nationalist thoughts in the society. The first issue of the magazine in October 1965 had 112 pages and was released as a special issue for Vijayadashami. Kempe Gowda’s statue featured in the cover page of the magazine. The magazine’s aim was to provide a healthy fare to its reader along with a variety of write-ups. Eminent Litterateurs of the State like Masti Venkatesh Iyengar, Gorur Ramaswamy Iyengar, Dr. V K Gokak, Pavem Acharya, Dr. Siddhaiah Puranik and others have encouraged this magazine in its endeavours. During the 25th anniversary on November 8, 1992, Dr. Chidananda Murthy, C Ashwath and Rasika Puttige participated. Dr. Chidananda Murthy who delivered the presidential address said that Utthana should continue to be a literary service rather than merely a business proposition.
